Art Day: Clay Figures

One: I love making art with the children. Two: It’s not as hard or as messy as you might think! Today, we used Crayola Air Dry Clay, and the “assignment” was to make a figure of any kind, as long as it had at least two legs that it could stand on.  No monopeds!  It […]

Now It’s November

Where does the time go? Actually, I have an Etsy shop now.  I always wanted one, but I was always like, “What am I going to sell?” So no shop.  But I make and bake all sorts of things, and people are always saying, “You should sell this!” So I finally took their advice, and […]

Photography Project: Week 4

I’m a little late this week. I try to post this on Saturday, where it will bother the least number of people, but it was a busy weekend, and I had to prioritize other things. Paint, mostly. We’re building more bookshelves for the living room. If we won’t build a new room, we will turn […]

Unnatural Light

People always advertise that they are “natural light photographers”, and it seems like one of those things to aspire to.  I mean, it’s natural!  It’s a really great buzzword, like organic! Or, GMO-free!  And what kind of a person doesn’t want organic photographs?  One photography blog advertises that they’ll help you find the light in […]

Photography Project: Week 1

No better time to start than when you’re left sitting in the car! There wasn’t much in the way of photogenic subjects, but the sun came out briefly and shone upon Henry’s fat little feet.
And there was sweet Evie, sitting patiently in her seat, waiting for our party to return. I love her to pieces.
I took the children to the library on Tuesday night, and Henry needed to nurse, so we found ourselves an underpopulated area. When he finished, I snapped a few photographs before rejoining the other children.
So this was staged, in the colorful produce department of the local Kroger in the busy hour just before school let out. This was my first effort at brave public photography!
Same day, same store, except this is Evie. Have I mentioned that I love her so?
Since I’m on a roll, when Henry went down for a rare nap, I skeedaddled out onto the farm to find me some photographs. I liked the feathery grass behind the wire, but I had to use the manual focus setting. I was actually surprised it came out this well.
And I have a thing for fence posts, the gnarlier, the better.

Why I Am Attempting a Photography Project

Well, because I like to make photographs.  Like, really like.  It calms me, brings me peace to look for the beauty in the mess that is life.  And there is always beauty.  Now, it’s true that I also tried this last year, and I gave up by the end of January.  And it’s true that […]

{P,H,F,R} Catching Up Edition

Pretty is my knitting project, which is another sweater, this time for Penelope, but she won’t get it till Christmas. I will be taking it to the fair, though. I’m a bit farther along than when I took this photo. Happy is what this baby makes me. I rode along as escort to a doctor […]

{P,H,F,R} We’re Underway

First, a little bloggy business:  I have a facebook page here (not under my regular email address, so you won’t find me that way) and a twitter account here.  If you’d like to friend or follow, please do.  No entry shall exceed 149 characters, and there will be no more than one per day.  🙂 […]
