I have plans to move Henry’s crib upstairs with the other children this weekend.
He’s sleeping well enough that I think he can go join his siblings. Who knows; he might even sleep better up there. I did not think a day like this would ever come.
He goes to sleep for the night just after eight, and he’s sleeping most of the way through. Twice this week, he’s gone straight through till morning, but more often, he’s waking just once. The timing varies widely – 10:30, 4:30, 2:00 – there’s no rhyme or reason to it. I’ve been just nursing him quickly and putting him back to bed, and that seems to be fine. But twice this week, he hasn’t woken at all, and that, my friends, is the stuff dreams are made of.
He’s napping well every day, just after lunch, and Evie sleeps at the same time, so it’s very convenient for me. I have a small portable crib that I’ll keep in my room for napping. My bedroom is downstairs, and it is the Napping Room for two reasons: One, so that the upstairs can still be used by the other children; nobody needs that many people underfoot during the best two hours of the day! And two, so that if I’m tired, I can use them as an excuse to take a nap, too. 😉 Actually, though, it was where Evie slept, too, as an infant, and she finds it very peaceful and soothing to be in my room. It’s her happy spot, and she takes her best naps there. Honestly, it’s everybody’s happy spot. I think it’s the nicest room in the house.
