{Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real} Is It Really Spring?

blog IMG_8398This is Megan.  She’s fifteen, and the sunniest child in the family.  Meg is such a naturally sweet tempered, affectionate and generous person, and oh, so pretty. I’m so glad she’s mine.

blog IMG_8349Evie got outside today, and for a good, long while. She loves being outdoors so much. Probably because I’ve been dragging her around on my chores since she was a wee little thing! (She’s very big now. Had a birthday, you know.)

Okay. I’ve got two for {FUNNY}. Sorry. I know it’s kind of against the rules.
blog IMG_8330Delaney (16 going on 17) and Jonathan (14) are doing this thing with their dad called Amtgard.  And also LARPing. But the Amtgard involves these pool noodle swords.  They practice several times a week, but I only let them actually go once or twice a month.  There are rules of engagement and rules about how much padding must be on all weapons and rules about armor and spells and whatnot.  They’ve spent tons of their own money on costumes and swords, and they just have such a great time with it.  I’m not necessarily recommending it as wholesome family fun or anything, but it’s something their dad was interested in, and these two are along for the ride.  Dad is 6’2″ and charged with making sure no harm comes to them.

Also for {FUNNY}:

This was birthday week.  Actually, it’s more like Birthday Run.  We’ve got Christmas, then Tommy on Jan. 29, Evie on Feb. 26, Brenna on Mar. 9, and Penny on Mar. 10.  Delaney is still to come on the 28 and then I can rest for a minute.  But, geez, Louise, that’s a lot of gift giving.

blog IMG_8319Also, don’t let this sweet image of a sweetly sleeping baby fool you: she’s spends a significant amount of the night insisting she does not need to be asleep.  Loudly.  Daylight Saving Time has really thrown me into a tailspin this year.  The three things?  Not even those are happening.  I could use a little more than five non-contiguous hours of sleep, you know?

But it looks like it might really be Spring!  And that’s {PRETTY}, {HAPPY}, {FUNNY}, and {REAL}.

My kids play a similar game, called sword tag. They make weapons using PVC pipes, duct tape and PVC insulation. It had been great fun for all the kids. Although, I should have bought stock in duct tape. I’d be rich! 😉

  2. Wow, at least you have lots of birthdays to make the Winter go by a little faster!

    1. Yup, it’s always a party at our house!

  3. It’s not spring, yet! And I have to keep reminding Faith that we definitely have the risk of snow going into April. But, it does feel nice to go out without a coat!

Evie is such a cutie. 🙂

    1. I keep thinking that the weather is going to take a turn for the worse any minute now, but the ten day forecast is always just lovely, lovely, lovely. Well, rainy, but warm, at least. 🙂 I’m calling it Spring!

I love all the pictures 🙂 The sword fighting sounds like a lot of fun 😉 Your winter sounds like my May — too many gift giving occasions and not enough funding 🙁 I love you guys.

    1. We scale back a little every year, it seems. Nobody ever minds; it’s always “the best birthday ever!” 🙂
