The Republic of Ireland Under-15 and Under-17 squads will each play two friendly matches against the Aspire Academy in Qatar next week. Under-15 manager Vincent Butler and Under-17 manager Sean McCaffrey have today announced their 18 man squads.

Irish amateurs qualify for UEFA Regions Cup Finals

Irish Amateur manager, Gerry Smith has led the Republic of Irelands Region 1 team to the finals of the UEFA Regions Cup which will be hosted by one of the eight finalists next summer. Ireland beat Scotland 5-1 while Italy and England drew 0-0 which means that the Irish finished group 2 in first position due to their superior goal difference.



Cork City face Glentoran in attractive final to the Setanta Sports Cup

The fourth celebration of the Setanta Sports Cup will conclude on Saturday when a new winner will be inscribed on the plinth. Cork City will be seeking to win a first major trophy under manager Alan Mathews (left) in what will be their second cup final appearance. Glentoran will be appearing in their first final. The match will be screened live on Setanta Sports TV.

France score big win over experimental Ireland U18 team in Limoges

France were quickly off their marks against Ireland when they played tonight in the Limoges Tournament in Paris. France raced into a 3-0 lead before Ireland struck back before half-time with a goal from Joe Mason (Plymouth Argyle). Ireland drew with Serbia on Tuesday and will play Denmark on Saturday.

Iceland 3-0 Republic of Ireland (Iceland win 4-1 on aggregate) Noel King’s Republic of Ireland women’s senior side were defeated by 3-0 by Iceland in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2009, 2nd leg play-off in Iceland last night. Difficult, icy conditions at the Reykjavik venue played a large part for both teams but it was Iceland who adapted better and scored three goals without reply to secure their place at the EURO 2009 finals.

Republic of Ireland Under-18 manager Sean McCaffrey has made several changes for this evening’s game against hosts France at the Limoges four-nation tournament series (6pm). Ireland played out a scoreless draw with Serbia in their opening game on Tuesday.

The Republic of Ireland amateur side today (Wednesday) twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Italian opposition in the UEFA Regions Cup, group 2 qualifiers. Ray Whelehan and captain, James Walsh were on the score-sheet for Gerry Smith’s side which keeps them in contention for a qualifying spot to the finals going into the last game against Scotland.
